As a mysterious autumn night turns to intrigue, we commemorated the 3rd anniversary of the International Club of DC and the 61st anniversary of the United Nations with a memorable international celebration of music, wine, food, and dancing at the historic Post Office Pavilion. Attendees enjoyed an unforgettable evening of elegance and sophistication while dancing to a 40-piece classical orchestra as well as a Latin band. Her Excellency Ambassador Novotney, the Austrian Ambassador to the United States delivered the welcome remarks and introduced the musicians before the concert. Our annual fall foliage hiking trip to Shenandoah National is one of our most popular outdoor activities. We discovered a kaleidoscope of colors as we explored the beautiful Shenandoah mountains. We hiked to the highest point of the park, enjoyed a picnic lunch, and hiked to a waterfall before returning back home. |

Iceland is one of the most beautiful, dramatic, and pristine, places on earth with breathtaking landscapes and natural wonders. Our overseas trip to Iceland was attended by nearly 30 adventurers. During our short stay we explored volcanic craters, waterfalls, geysers, and traveled by horseback. In the evening we enjoyed the nightlife of Reykjavik, the Capital of Iceland including a visit to the Ice Bar made entirely of ice with ice furniture! One of the most memorable excursions of the trip was the visit to the Blue Lagoon Geothermal spa where we basked on a lagoon naturally warmed by geothermal heat and replete with natural minerals from volcanic soil. |

We enjoyed our last ice skating session of the year at the Pershing Park Ice rink. The evening started was a lesson on ice skating and was followed by ice skating and socializing with other ICDC members surrounded by monuments. |

In time for our annual Viennese Ball at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, we learned how to dance the Viennese waltz in the beautiful grand ballroom of the National Museum of Women in the Arts. The lessons were taught by Herb and Carol Traxler who are natives of Austria.

We learned how to prepare a complete Lebanese meal with dessert with the help of the chef at Lebanese Taverna. The cooking class was preceded by a reception with Lebanese appetizers and wine followed by a Lebanese dinner with dessert. Our hands-on cooking classes at Lebanese Taverna are a great way to learn how to prepare a delicious and health meal at home. We hope to see you next time! |

We celebrated Valentine's day at the Embassy of Switzerland with a reception featuring Swiss food, chocolate and wine. The evening also included a short movie about Switzerland as well as welcome remarks by the Swiss Embassy Cultural Attache. |

Great Falls ia a beautiful National Park located minutes from DC. Though the hike to Great Falls was officially canceled due to a winter storm, a few of us braved the weather and discovered a winter wonderland and enjoyed a day of winter hiking! |

We celebrated the life, legacy, and music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart by taking part in two movie screenings at the Embassy of Austria. The movie screenings we organized with the cooperation of the Embassy of Austria Cultural Forum. |

Our Indian cooking classes are a wonderful way to learn how to prepare an Indian meal and enjoy lunch with dessert afterwards. The cooking demonstration covers spices and other ingredients along with techniques used in Indian cooking. |

Fencing lessons are one of our most popular monthly activities. The lessons start with an overview of fencing where attendees learn the basics of posture, footwork, and how to fence. Afterwards we enjoyed fencing with other ICDC members. |

We learned how to dance tango at an intimate lounge in Adam's Morgan while enjoying the company of other ICDC members. The tango lesson was followed by a night of dancing to tango and Latin music. We hope to see you at our next tango lessons! |

We concluded 2005 with a spectacular New Year's Eve gala at the Wardman Park Marriott Hotel that was attended by over 2,000 attendees, our largest event so far! The event featured food from all five continents, as well as dancing to music by 6 live orchestras. |

We discovered one of the most influential revolutions in the art world by taking a private tour of the National Gallery of Art. The tour was preceded by lunch at the cascade cafe allowing us the opportunity to meet and socialize with other ICDC members who appreciate art. Our Swing vs. Salsa dance parties are a great way to learn two of the most popular styles of dancing while meeting other internationally-minded professionals and making new friends. After lessons on swing and salsa dancing, we enjoyed a night of dancing to a mix of swing and salsa as well as enjoying a professional dance demonstration. A few days prior to our New Year's Eve Gala, we concluded our 2005 event calendar with a salsa lesson followed by a Latin dance party at H20. It was a great opportunity to dance with friends both old and new while enjoying a night of Latin dancing.
